Description Prop65

American Made - 134a is a single component HFC refrigerant that replaced CFC-12 in many air conditioning and refrigeration applications. It holds an ASHRAE A1 safety classification, is EPA SNAP accepted and UL classified. As a refrigerant, it possesses similar energy efficiency and capacity characteristics as R-12. Using the proper procedures, 134a can be used to replace CFC-12 in existing systems. It is also a common refrigerant in small displacement refrigeration equipment such as vending machines.
Product Features
  • The same grade used by OEMs for charging new systems.
  • Available in 30# recyclable DOT-39 cylinders
  • 1/2" ACME Valve fitting for mobile applications
Safety
Always read and follow the information in the Genetron Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS), product label information and instructions.
Wear proper personal protective equipment such as leather gloves and safety goggles.
  • Work in well-ventilated areas; do not inhale refrigerant vapors.
  • Never allow the container to exceed 125ºF. Avoid storing in hot places such as the trunk or cabin of a closed vehicle or near hot engine surfaces. Container may explode and result in serious injury and/or property damage.
  • Do not use external sources to heat refrigerant cans (open flames, torches, hot water, heating lamps, hot air guns). Container may explode and result in serious injury
  • Do not store refrigerant cans in damp or corrosive environments.
  • Store the refrigerant in a dry, well-ventilated area away from heat, open flames, and direct sunlight.
  • Do not attempt to introduce other materials into the refrigerant can.
  • Do not use shop air (compressed air) to increase A/C system pressure in order to locate leaks. Certain concentrations of R-134a mixed with air can be combustible at pressures above atmospheric. Do not introduce air into any vessel containing R-134a.
  • In the event of a significant leak, evacuate the area. Do not attempt to stop a significant leak. Intervention can lead to inhalation exposure and frostbite injury.
Protecting the Environment
Sound refrigerant management is key to minimizing emissions and protecting the environment. Leaks in air conditioning systems should be identified and repaired as soon as possible. To minimize the release of refrigerant to the atmosphere, keep the following points in mind:
  • Follow product guidelines and instructions.
  • Do not vent refrigerant to the atmosphere. In the U.S., willful venting of any refrigerant to the atmosphere is illegal.
  • Do not discard disposable refrigerant containers unless they are empty. Dispose of empty containers in an approved manner.
  • Do not use leaking, damaged or worn charging equipment.
